Thursday, February 9th, 2012A Syrian/Lebanese/that part of the world recipe from Emily:
Cook some rice (I made four cups, simmering in 8 cups of water for 20 minutes and then turning the fire off and letting it sit covered for 5 minutes), and some lentils (also 4 cups) (simmer in lots of salted water for 20-25 minutes, but DON’T let them get mushy!). Slice up some onions (I used 3) into long strips and sauté them with a couple tablespoons each of cumin and coriander and lots of salt and pepper until they are limp and brown. Mix everything together!
For the sauce, mix together yogurt, cumin, mint, and some chopped cucumber if possible. Serve with a big dollop of sauce on top!
